Project goals

The goal of the JYVSECTEC Center Project is to develop JYVSECTEC into Finland’s leading impartial cybersecurity research, development and training centre which helps companies and other operators be more immune to interference and makes them better equipped to detect vulnerabilities in their operations and systems as well as detect and prevent cyber threats and develop personnel competence.

The project will achieve the following result targets:
1. Taking advantage of the advanced features of the Realistic Global Cyber Environment (RGCE) enables the dynamic expansion of cybersecurity R&D activities in the changing operating field.
2. Cybersecurity practice activities have been commercialised for the needs of different fields.
3. Operating models for creating and analysing a cybersecurity situation awareness and for the associated management and communication in the organisation have been developed and adopted.
4. Cybersecurity competence, awareness and co-operation have been developed using the international co-operation network.

Project actions

The RGCE environment and its applications will be developed further, and policies and operational guidelines connected to the development environment and its use will be drawn up.

Field-specific cyber practice concepts and associated scenarios will be designed, developed and commercialised, and a situation assessment system will be developed for the management of the cybersecurity practice.

Operating models will be developed for creating and analysing a cybersecurity situation assessment and for assessment-based management for the needs of different fields.

The external image of JYVSECTEC will be harmonised and strengthened through communications. We will take part in national and international co-operation groups and seminars and write articles on cybersecurity for professional media and scientific publications.

Impact of the project

Thanks to the developed and diversified RGCE environment and the advanced competence taking advantage of it, we will be able to rise to the constantly changing cybersecurity challenges.

Making cybersecurity a part of the business management of companies will secure the continuity of the activities launched during the project and development according to needs.

The cybersecurity practice and training activities will help improve the competence of many operators in the short and long term. Cybersecurity competence, awareness and co-operation will help achieve an increase in the regional competence level and strengthen the position of the Jyväskylä Region as a cybersecurity centre of excellence. The development and expansion of international co-operation networks will facilitate the quantitative and qualitative development of cybersecurity R&D activities and cybersecurity business.
