Showcasing our results

A digital representation of a chain link, depicting a network of interconnected points with a luminous blue glow.

The information systems of actors in the food value chain are rapidly evolving due to the digitalisation of agriculture and technological advancements. Ensuring information and cyber security is crucial, as food production and distribution are vital for supply chain security. In the Food chain resilience project, we developed the capabilities of Finnish food chain actors to respond to cyber threats.

The food chain cyber range

We built a cyber exercise environment that is modelling the digital landscape of food production and distribution.

Pilot exercise

Cyber security exercise activities for the food production and distribution sector was developed and tested in a pilot exercise.

Networks and cooperation

Cyber security knowledge, awareness and cooperation of food production and distribution organizations was developed through national and international cooperation networks.

What does the food supply chain cyber range include?

Primary production, food processors and retail information systems are modeled in the food supply chain cyber exercise environment.

Primary production

Cyber range includes primary production systems and automation equipment, enabling training in different forms of primary production.

Food industry

Food industry systems include: a raw material system, a laboratory, production lines, a warehouse, a manufacturing execution system (MES) and an enterprise resource planning system (ERP), which enable the training of various food production companies.

Retail and distribution

Retail and distribution systems include: a product information service, payment terminals, a store system, an order prediction service, a logistics center and an enterprise resource planning system (ERP), which enable training of companies in the grocery trade and distribution.
