Digitalization has significantly increased the amount of data in the manufacturing industry. Data is now one of the cornerstones of competitiveness, but its utilization varies between companies. Most companies use only their own data, but to improve competitiveness, external data and more efficient data sharing within subcontracting networks are also needed. To improve competitiveness, external data and more efficient data sharing within subcontracting networks are also needed.

It is essential that the data shared in subcontracting networks is properly structured, distributed according to commonly agreed rules, timely, and secure. Currently, SMEs lack sufficient understanding and expertise regarding the possibilities and methods of data utilization, as well as the benefits of data sharing. Empirical and sufficiently practical information is needed to raise awareness among companies and other stakeholders.

The project aims to develop models for data sharing and utilization across organizational boundaries. Through pilot cases, practical examples and operating models will be created to support SMEs’ skills and awareness of data opportunities. In addition, the project promotes collaboration between universities and companies in the fields of data analytics and artificial intelligence.

Objectives:

  • Identify and pilot new ways to utilize data in the supply chain.
  • Develop and implement a data utilization policy for subcontracting networks.
  • Increase companies’ awareness of secure data sharing.
  • Strengthen the role of universities in supporting business growth, renewal, and RDI activities.
