European Commission and European Cyber Security Organization (ECSO) ASBL have signed the contract for a Public-Private Partnership for a strategic alliance in cyber security. The signature ceremony was held on July 5th 2016 in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France. The ceremony was hosted by Vice President for Digital Single Market, Andrus Ansip and Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Günther Oettinger.

By signing the contract EU will invest €450 million to the research and innovation under the program H2020. In return, each euro of public funding is expected to trigger additional investment of three or more Euro by the cyber security market players represented by ECSO. Institute of Information Technology, and JYVSECTEC as part of it, joined the ECSO and its founder members. With its membership, Institute of Information Technology seeks to strengthen international co-operation and wants to actively influence the research and development of cyber security in Europe. The membership creates an opportunity to form new partnerships with European cyber security actors in public and private sector.
